Ceregene, Inc. (NASDAQ: CEGE) recently presented long-term follow-up data from a Phase 1 clinical trial of CERE-120 in 12 patients with advanced Parkinson's disease. CERE-120 uses gene therapy to deliver the neural growth factor neurturin to the major area of neurodegeneration that occurs in the brains of Parkinson's disease patients. Long-term follow up assessments at 18 and 24 months post treatment, suggest a sustained reduction in Parkinson's symptoms. It was previously reported that an average of 36 percent (p<0.001) reduction in Parkinson's symptoms was seen 12 months after CERE-120 administration.

Monmouth Medical Center, an affiliate of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System, recently announced that its Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has established a partnership with LifebankUSA, a New Jersey-based stem cell banking service, to establish the Monmouth Medical Center-LifebankUSA PlacentaCord Banking Program. The new program, south Jersey's first hospital affiliated program for banking both placenta-derived and cord blood stem cells, will educate expectant parents regarding stem cell banking services when giving birth at the Medical Center. LifebankUSA, based in Cedar Knolls, N.J., and a division of Summit-based Celgene Corporation (NASDAQ: CELG), is an AABB-accredited, ISO-certified stem cell banking service.

Aida Pharmaceuticals (OTCBB: AIDA) recently announced that the company's upcoming Rh-Apo2L cancer drug has been named as a "New and High-Tech Transforming Products of 2007" by the Shanghai New High Technology Service Centre ("SNHTSC"), a special government commercialization division led by the Shanghai Municipal Government. This designation will allow Rh-Apo2L to have preferential policies during the commercialization process after Aida completes China's State Food and Drug Administration ("SFDA") clinical testing of the product. The stated role of the SNHTSC, according to its website http://www.hitec.net.cn, is to be a clearinghouse that allows the Chinese government to evaluate and narrow down technology candidates that have the greatest potential for national and global commercialization.
