NYC `cable Bill of Rights' Sought and Debbie Miller Named Executive Vice President, Worldwide Marketing, CBS Films

It may not make the cable guy get to your home on time, but a bill of rights proposed by the New York City comptroller seeks to ease other frustrations for cable customers. Franchise agreements for the city's two main cable companies, Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWX) and Cablevision, expire in October and negotiations have begun for their renewal contracts. Comptroller William Thompson Jr. says the city should take this opportunity to insist on a bill of rights for customers.


EPIC Corporation (OTC: EPIO), a multi-media communications and broadcasting company, announced recently that it has entered into a three year exclusive international TV distribution rights agreement with U.S. Pro Golf Tour Presented by SportsQuest ("USPGT"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Greens Worldwide Incorporated. Under the terms of the agreement EPIC and the USPGT will cooperate with each other to produce, market and distribute USPGT programming of its Tour events to all international markets outside of the United States territories beginning in 2009 and continuing through 2011. This agreement allows for the distribution of up to ten USPGT events per year throughout the length of the agreement.

Debbie Miller has been named Executive Vice President, Worldwide Marketing, CBS Films, it was announced recently by Amy Baer, President and Chief Executive Officer of the new division within CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS). In this position, which reports to Baer, Miller will be responsible for all worldwide marketing for CBS Films, overseeing advertising, promotions, publicity, media and research, as well as digital/online marketing initiatives. Miller will join CBS Films after her contract expires in June with Warner Bros. Pictures, where she serves as Executive Vice President of Domestic Theatrical Marketing.

Wimbledon will continue to be shown on free television in Britain through 2014 after the BBC signed a new five-year contract. The British Broadcasting Corp.'s (NYSE: DIS) latest agreement, announced recently, incorporates exclusive live rights for TV, radio and internet, and stretches the company's association with the grasscourt tournament to 87 years. Neither the All England Club nor the BBC disclosed the amount paid for the rights.
