Boeing Pledges $1M to Wildfire Relief Efforts and Lockheed Martin Wins Two Contracts To Help Modernize IRS Technology

(NYSE: BA) committed $1 million to aid the rebuilding effort in Southern California damaged by recent wildfires, the company recently said. Also, Boeing will match the amount employees and retirees donate to the American Red Cross at 50 cents on the dollar until Nov. 16. Boeing is the largest private employer in Southern California with approximately 28,000 employees across five sites. Currently the only Boeing entity affected is HRL Laboratories in Malibu, near Pepperdine University.
Military contractor Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE: NOC) recently said it will reopen this weekend three buildings at its California facilities that were shut down earlier this week by wildfires that ripped across San Diego County. The Los Angeles-based company closed all six of its buildings at its San Diego offices, home to 3,800 employees, on Monday after the wildfires began last weekend, said Randy Belote, a Northrop Grumman spokesman.
Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) was awarded two contracts by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to help modernize its technologies and streamline its processes. The contracts, worth $36 million, were awarded under the Total Information Processing Support Services (TIPSS-3) contract vehicle. Under the first contract, known as Account Management Services (AMS) Notice Services, Lockheed Martin will automate the process to prepare, manage and store customer account notices, significantly reducing production time and enhancing taxpayer service.
