Alltel Corporation (NYSE: AT) recently announced that its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Alltel Communications, Inc. and Alltel Ohio Limited Partnership had received, as of 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on October 26, 2007 (the “Consent Payment Deadline”), tenders and consents from holders of approximately $26,061,000 (or approximately 66.86 percent of the aggregate principal amount) of ACI's 6.65 percent Senior Notes due 2008, $49,202,000 (or approximately 92.88 percent of the aggregate principal amount) of ACI's 7.60 percent Senior Notes due 2009 and $280,038,000 (or approximately 94.18 percent of the aggregate principal amount) of Alltel Ohio's 8.00 percent Notes due 2010.
Wireless subscribers of Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE:S) may no longer have to buy a new phone if they jump to a new carrier. part of a proposed class-action settlement, the Reston, Va.-based provider, with operational headquarters in Overland Park, Kan., has agreed to provide departing Sprint PCS customers with the code necessary to unlock their phones' software. That would allow the phones to operate on any network using code division multiple access technology, or CDMA. Competitors using that technology include Verizon Wireless and Alltel Corp., although the Sprint handset would still have to meet those networks' technical standards to work.
Diamond I, Inc. (OTCBB: DMOI) recently announced that it has opened its free Texas Hold 'em web site to online players at http://www.islandbluecasino.net. Island Blue Casino, DMOI's free Poker site, is a for-entertainment-only site and is legal for users in the United States.
