City of Industry, CA --(www.USEquityNews.com)-- 10/31/2007 - Retail industry alert provided by U.S. Equity News. Capstone Industries Inc., a consumer products company focused on product placement with Retailers nationwide and a wholly owned subsidiary of CHDT Corp. (OTCBB: CHDO), recently launched their STP® branded power tools and automotive accessories line at AAPEX, Las Vegas Sands Expo Center, Booth #940. The federal consumer product watchdog agency said recently that a unilateral recall of lead-tainted toy animals by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) lacked some information that consumers need, including how many toys were sold, when they were sold and at what other retailers. U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission spokeswoman Julie Vallese said the agency prefers that companies work with it to produce comprehensive recall announcements that give consumers all the information they need to react.

Target Corp. (NYSE: TGT) is working with University of Tampa students in search of some good ideas. Target executives have given UT students two case studies focused on how Target can recruit top hourly and executive team members and on how the company can use technology to increase grocery sales at its SuperTarget stores. Groups of students in the Sykes College of Business class Practical Strategic Assessment have broken up into groups of four to analyze the problems and seek creative solutions.

Shares of Office Depot (NYSE: ODP) sank after the retailer said it would delay its third quarter earnings announcement to review accounting for vendor payments. The Delray Beach, Fla.-based company, the No. 2 office-supply retailer in the country behind Staples, was scheduled to report results recently. It did not announce a new date for its earnings release. The audit committee of the company's board of directors is investigating the timing of the recognition of "vendor program funds," such as rebates.
