Kimberley Kates - Chairperson/CEO

  • Kimberley Kates is the Chairperson/CEO of Big Screen Entertainment Group (BSEG) managing a broad range of film and television productions under the BSEG banner. She has brought together an experienced team of producers, directors, writers and editors, who shares her creative vision, to insure the very finest in film and television productions for BSEG's library
  • Kimberley Kates has more than fifteen (15) years of experience working in front of the camera, as well as behind the scenes in the film and television industry. Her acting career expands over twenty (20) films and as many television series with a great deal of success in the entertainment industry
  • Ms. Kates's primary focus, for the past five (5) years, has been on film producing. She created and produced a pilot for Comedy Central in 2001. In 2002, Ms. Kates was head of development for Smash Productions, a company primarily focusing on reality shows which sold a pilot, entitled, "America's Movie", to Fremantle Media (American Idol) in the year 2003
  • Ms. Kates is the founder of many of Big Screen Entertainment's film library including, "Dirty Love" which premiered at Sundance 2005, which garnered a lot of excitement and attention. The film was also invited to screen at the prestigious HBO Comedy and Arts Festival 2005 and was showcased at Cannes. In addition, she also brought "Lightfield's Home Videos", "Angel's Blood", "The Road to Christmas", "Nothing Compares to You", "The Mirror" and "Tool Girls" and the novel by Yanina Cywinska, a true epic story currently being adapted into a screenplay
  • Ms. Kates, as one of the producers, oversaw post production for the film "Forget About It", a film she feels will garner much excitement for Big Screen. Ms. Kates greenlit the current film, "Babysitter Wanted" after the pitch meeting and the film was financed, written, shot and completed in less than seven (7) months
  • Director Martin Scorsese spotted Ms. Kates in Paul Shaffer’s "Viva Shaf Vegas," in the late 80’s and the two became good friends. Mr. Scorsese provided inspiration for Ms. Kates’ move into producing
  • Ms. Kates began producing in 1999 and is an Executive Member of Women in Film as well as a Corporate Sponsor of Film Independent.

David Zappone-President

  • David Zappone has been affiliated with Big Screen Entertainment Group since 2004, serving as President of Business Affairs, and currently as President and Director
  • Mr. Zappone was educated at the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut, and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. He also attended Yale University and the University of Connecticut. While at Vassar, Mr. Zappone began his film career, writing, directing and performing in many projects. Additionally, he apprenticed with the prestigious New York Stage and Film Company
  • As an actor, he studied with Burt Reynolds, and is a founding member of the Burt Reynolds Acting Company in Jupiter, Florida. Under the direction of Mr. Reynolds, Zappone appeared on stage in works by Tennessee Williams, Edward Albee and Herman Wouk. Zappone has produced several of Big Screen’s films, including "Forget About It," "Lightfield’s Home Videos," "The Mirror" and "Babysitter Wanted." He has also appeared as actor in several films
  • Mr. Zappone is also a licensed Real Estate Broker, and serves as Senior Vice President of the Francis T. Zappone Company in Waterbury, Connecticut. The company was started in 1963 by his father. Zappone and his father also own several other real estate companies, with extensive holdings in the Northeast. Mr. Zappone is a specialist in the valuation, marketing and management of bank foreclosures and Real Estate Owned assets. He has authored and published several articles on the subject, as well as on other real estate related topics

Michael Manasseri - Executive Vice President/Director

  • Michael Manasseri has been in the entertainment industry for over twenty (20) years. As a teenager Michael appeared on Broadway in the revival of Oliver, toured the United States in "The King and I" with Yul Brynner, and starred in three Off Broadway theatrical productions. He also appeared in over 40 national commercials. At 18, Michael starred in the 20th Century Fox film, "License to Drive", with Heather Graham
  • Michael also had starring roles in four television series: "Raising Miranda" and "Peaceable Kingdom" for CBS, "Charlie Hoover" for FOX, and from 1994 to 1998 Michael played the lead role in the USA Network comedy "Weird Science", executive produced by John Landis (Director/Producer of "Animal House," "Trading Places" and "Coming to America"). "Weird Science" is still in world-wide syndication, having aired in over 40 countries
  • In 1999, Michael realized he wanted to start playing roles behind the camera as a writer/producer/director
  • In 2000, Michael directed and edited the comedy pilot, "Webb Girls." He also formed Smash Productions with director John Asher ("Diamonds" for Miramax), actress/writer Jenny McCarthy (MTV’S "Singled Out," "Scream 3," "Scary Movie 3") and Kimberley Kates. The Smash team created and sold the project "America’s Movie," to Fremantle Media, the producers of the Fox hit, "American Idol." They also developed the project, "Dirty Love," written by McCarthy

Stephen Eckelberry - President of Production/Director

  • Stephen Eckelberry is a filmmaker with an expertise in post-production. Currently his company, Blackberry Productions, provides post-production consultation for the University of Southern California's Institute Of Creative Technologies located in Marina Del Rey, California
  • Among Eckelberry's many past positions and accomplishments, he served as Post Production Supervisor/Associate Producer with The Motion Picture Bond Co. located in Century City, California. In that role, he insured that films were finished at the highest possible standards within the available budget. He navigated the intricacies of studio delivery contracts, insuring that films were properly delivered with no rejections
  • Eckelberry served as Film Director, Editor & Post-Production Executive at Hillman Williams Productions located in Santa Monica, California. While there, he directed the film First Degree, to a critical and financial success, overseeing all aspects of the film process from start to finish. Also, he edited and post-produced Men, winning several awards and a lucrative distribution; he edited and post-produced Mirage, distributed through Universal, earning a 600% return on investment to the original investors
